One who would of the Two Hand Sword learn both close and clear . . .

The knightly two-handed sword was a weapon wielded by a select few: knights and professional warriors who could afford specialized training. Popular throughout Europe by many names, medieval English folk simply called it the Two Hand Swerde, and left behind secret, cryptic texts describing the savage, spiraling dance of its use.

Whether you dream of wielding the weapon of legends from the fields of Agincourt and Towton, or yearn for the cold mastery of steel known by knights and mercenaries of the English middle ages, the Black Falcon School of Arms can help you achieve your goals.

Our introductory class serves as an entry point to the hidden world of English martial arts. Over the course of twelve weeks, students will learn the basic movements and principles underlying the use of the English Two Hand Sword. No prior experience is necessary, and those looking to enter the world of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) will find here a unique and entertaining challenge in doing so. Swordsmanship helps to develop confidence and discipline, as well as encouraging fitness and critical thinking skills.

Minimum age is 14 years old. Novices will receive a school shirt and may choose to take a student's exam at the end of the course in order to join the school for regular classes and study. Class will begin on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Gym C at the UCCS Rec Center from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm.

Dress comfortably for exercise and ease of movement as well as comfort. Leather gloves are recommended but not required. Practice swords will be provided. Space is limited, so sign up early (tickets are typically available approx 2 months before the start of the session)! Registration will remain open on this page until the second week of the course, after that it is difficult to catch up.
